  • Call for proposals on the French CRG instruments at the ILL (D1B, D23, IN12, I13, IN22, SAM and SHARPER): submission deadline 15 October. Proposals should be submitted via the Phoenix platform.
  • The SFN is organising a school on Time-of-Flight (TOF) spectroscopy, from 7 to 10 December 2026 at the ILL in Grenoble. Pre-registration is open until 16 October 2026. The school is aimed at participants already familiar with neutron spectroscopy. More information here.
  • The SAXS/SANS Days will take place from 25 to 27 November 2026 in Grenoble. More information here.
  • The RÉCIPROCS network offers financial support for exchanges between laboratories aimed at transferring technical, technological, or methodological expertise in crystallography (X-rays, electrons, neutrons) or small-angle X-ray and neutron scattering (SAXS/SANS). Exchanges must take place before the end of 2026. More information here.
  • Fast beamtime access “Neutron night” (experiments under standard conditions on SAM and SANS-LLB): rolling call – please send a one-paragraph proposal containing the following information: name(s) of samples, chemical composition, and any potential risks, to federation.neutron@neel.cnrs.fr.

Unveiling the Hidden Structure of Foams with Neutron Scattering

Foams are fascinating, highly complex systems whose structural characterisation is challenging due to the broad range of length scales involved, from nanometres to macroscopic dimensions. Neutron scattering, combined with complementary techniques, provides insight into their multiscale structure, revealing unexpected aspects of the fundamental physics of liquid foams.
